As you might know from this point that I'm going to SVA, Coasting Creeps, and recently the Dusty awards were held at my school. Though I went to the graduation I didn't attended the awards, and am regretting it, because there are only so many hours I can wait before people I know get awards. I'm not saying it wouldn't be interesting, it's just I'm new to the school and there aren't many people that I know even want to watch an award show on TV let alone go to one in person.

Mostly if there was an open bar then I would be there faster then a crowd of over weight kids back from fat camp, though this is one of the reasons I'm bloging today. I was reading the Cartoon Brew page and I do love to read and hear what's new in cartoons, but this little blurb about the Dusty Showings really bothered me. I really respect Cartoon Brew on it's up to date cartoon news though the fact is that when they were reviewing the shows for USC, CalARTS, and SVA they were more focused on the food then the cartoons "SVA dropped the ball in one other big way. Whereas both USC and CalArts rewarded audiences with food after their screenings, SVA sent home the exhausted audience on an empty stomach." which is not about cartoons.

Given I really think SVA should have planned the Dusty's better, but this is about a Cartoon Blog that focuses on the spread rather then the student's works. A nice buffet of finger foods would be nice, but that shouldn't be the focus of destroying the reputation of a school. Personally if I was this man of action for Cartoon Brew I would be getting the names of some of the best animators of the night from each school.

Anyhow here is a walk cycle that I promised myself if I did it well that I would post it up so all you coasting creeps out there can learn and see that I'm not just looking at dirty pictures on the interwebs and drinking my dreams away. Expect more animations as the Summer goes on.

Hey Coasting Creeps another half a year has almost gone by and I haven't posted, must of heard a noise or something to be up this early. Moving on, here are some updates on what's happening in life. I'm in SVA, so awesome thumbs all around, for animation. That's right you people who say that I've been up to nothing recently, I'm making cartoons and writing, not sure how that will pan out, but I'm writing none the less.

Other than that note I've been up to animation goodness and storyboards, there will be no one to stop me and my needs now! This year or next the world will see what comes from my mind or laugh at fart jokes, either pleases me. That is a hint for those to wait and enjoy the treats.

I have no plan for making comic strips, but I'm planing on planing to make one, for sure ... this time.

Also Angora Napkin, as you can see at the bottom of my blog and the picture above, is going to be on TV on Halloween Night, but you have to have Teletoon or be in Canada. I know it's worth the trip for the night at least, to Canada! See the whole AD animation at the bottom.

Dumm Custom Pants

Well I never thought this day would happen Coasting Creeps, I mean I always had the notion that this was coming, no really I never thought that I was going to be on Dumm Comics, but here I am the front page, the second comic, the person to see. Though it's a comic for the swansong of Big Pants Mouse from the fans, it's still awesome to be apart of this event. I'm very happy with the color for this, though I wanted to make it a little more subdued, but I though "Hey let'em go out with a BANG!" so I threw lots of color all over the place.

This is going to be a little short post for those of you that didn't know about the event or that I was apart of it, also this might be a trend from now on. Just little posts here and there to let people in on what this crazy person with a computer is doing. Here are some of the rough designs to tease you people with till next week, remember June 8th!

Death Count Continues

So my Coasting Creeps as you can see I've been dead for sometime and others *cough stalkers cough* will see that my upload counterpart has been placing Flash animations and such on the DeviantART page. Now that being said I'm working on a project and yes this one will be finished ... for sure this time or else! I can't really tell all of the details since I want to copyright it, but I can tell you all that fun times will be had and pleasures await the future.

On a side note I have been accepted into a college that holds high standards, but I haven't got the approved letter from said school (un-said said school). This is not that big of a deal since the portfolio review was somewhat recent though the horrible or amazing part will be the day I graduate this other college since the letter should be in by this time describing if I'll be in or that I will have to find another way into the career I desire.

I leave you with these thoughts for the night kids and remember to buy the new Iron Man inspired gum, Coconut and Metal Elemental.

Comics and Animatics

This is going to be a short post, but a post that will have your minds consumed on, my Costing Creeps. I am dropping the idea of the Animatic for the book "Gil's All Fight Dinner" though I will be drawing fan art here and there. The good news is that I will be making characters for comics and comic strips alike and the Animatic idea is still on, but for different ideas.

Like this Akira Toriyama drawing, I will have strange characters and plots too in this new comic strip idea.

Anyway in the next post there will be a comic strip and I would like any feedback or just look at my DeviantART page.

As you can tell from the title this is a little "Fireside" chat between you, my Coasting Creeps, and me, Custom Coaster or your Czar. Now the little added bonus is for the season, this chat will dip a thumb in the figgy pudding, naughty blog! Anyhow here is some news on a future project.

The little message I want to leave here is that the new project that I'm making is an Animatic based on a story I read recently. The story is Gil's All Fright Diner, yeah there's a pun I know, still it's a good book written by a great writer. It's hard to find a writer that wants to write a short story, but it's easy to find a writer that wants to write that epic story. This is a full story not a short and it's a well worth read if you happen to be by a library. The pain behind this is that if you can't write, then the story was destined to fail in the first place. A. Lee Martinez, yeah the "A." bothers me too, the writer to the story Gil's All Fright Diner IS a writer that knows how to preform his job, but he does not just knows how to write, he can make that epic or mundane tale with an amazing ending, something you can walk away with too. Moving on, I'm using the chapter 12 to throw together an Animatic of how I see the scene. Now here's the problem with this idea, if you can't tell I'm a fan of the writer so I keep up with news on his works like the Gil's All Fright Diner Movie. This is the problem, I need to get my character sheet together and work on some story boards before anyone mentions actors or a trailer or even a director. All of these things can be seen as I took these elements from it, which I would never do, but also not want to be seen as if I did. This idea was running along in my head for awhile till I heard of the movie, which is good since it's rushing the project from idea to product, though bad since I need to make this thought into something before anything develops.

Anyhow just wanted to place that out there into the air, also this will be with sound, so that's another reason that I want to get this done before anything really moves with the film. So I'm not calling voice actors, but if you know me then let's talk ... into a mic. Moving on maybe this year my wish may come true, but it's problably just another cup of holiday milk with Krampus, he never leaves a tip, bastard.

Canada's Producing Adult Toons

Gasp, I'm trying for another comic idea, that's right Coasting Creeps. This one is going to be an idea that works too. I just know that this News maybe too much for some of you people, so I'm going to give you something to read till I get my notes together, that's right notes for the comic, shock awe!

Anyhow I can't stop watching, maybe the best, Adult Cartoon it's called Producing Parker, watch it somehow I don't care if you have to go to Canada tonight and wait a week. This trend of adults that enjoy cartoons has been storming for sometime and has colided with a hurricane of mature story telling to spawn this Canadian made goodness. A good thing about adult cartoons is that plots and ideas set aside for shows that might be impossible for people to do these things to happen have found an out lite finally in the cartoon world. One of the major things in this show is the writing, the characters have a more adult dept and each one a personality that is more then a farce of the generic person that would be in a show like this.

Though indeed it is just a comedy that has characters that are on the generic scale even the best of the best play down to people that can't understand jokes of a drier wit. Another desire for this show would be that the character designer has an amazing skill of keeping a strong sex appeal to the female characters, but keeping this geometric style (that seems to be sticking, for the time being, to a lot of artists in animation). The worst part (or the laziest) is that many character designs are reused either so that the animators don't have to make new animations or that it's a point to make that everyone in that kinda business copy each other in some way and they all just blend into doppelgangers. Even with that down note the sight gags and the story for each episode keeps me in it till the end, which unlike most programs have to rely on mini-gags or sub-plots to keep the attention of the people. I'm ending this short, but if there were two reasons to go to Canada for a season or two it's Producing Parker and Angora Napkin, I'll get into the second reason when it has an episode for people to settle into, just knowing it's good is enough for now.

Tofu HEad TOfu heAD TofuHead

Hello Coasting Creepers it's time for me to bring in the Story part of Custom Cartoons and Stories, since I haven't told any since the Custom Coaster Blog if anyone read that, ha! Anyhow this is a story for my new character TofuHead a character that has a strange way of life and cuts the fourth wall to just make fun of it's creator, me... bastard, though through these misadventures he comes back for more. Here's a clip I animated.

Anyhow here's the Short story about an animated character that I made up when I was on the spot for a character that needed to be, exist, for all to know.

The Shadows of the morning clear and all that can be seen in the park on this bench is a little man with popcorn sitting in his lap. This was an odd man since it was six in the morning and he's been sitting there since three. Though that was not the only thing that made this man different from the other people that started to motivate their minds for the morning rush was that his head was a cube of Tofu. After the first herd of jogger made their way South of the Park he stood to demean his creator "If the day was long and life is short, then your useless mind sits in your skull like the last pickle in the jar twiddling it's thumbs like someone is coming." said the ungrateful TofuHead smiling like he just made the world cleaner with his charm. And that short bit of words said he went along his way into the playground of the park. It was still morning and this was the choice time to get his kicks in before all the Mothers with their children came to the Park and gave him dirty looks like he had nothing better to do all day then to think of their children in evil ways. The monkey bars were always a choice that he made first to use other then something easy like a swing or a seesaw since he didn't have anyone to impress when he jumped off the swings and there just were the joggers other then himself for the seesaw. Climbing across the rungs like a monkey with a head of Tofu forgets his popcorn on the bench, so he climbs back. Now birds flying into the area like wolves or sharks with fresh meat in the air or water whatever metaphor works best. The shocked Tofu said "Great job in gaining the position of how these 'rats' flying around me are acting, 'smooth' oh creator." with a tone of anger in his voice. As the birds fight for the spoils TofuHead sets them straight "Okay come down there isn't enough for everyone so you need to ..." thinking of the solution he begins with this idea "have a 'Battle Royal' for this Popcorn." the birds agree and settle down to choose who will fight from each gang. It seems that the birds are all from rival flocks and this would please the higher members for either gang to get the popcorn. The ring was set and the fight began at the TofuHead bell "Ding!" claimed the bell, then the fight began. A fist to the liver from a crow to the seagull of the other gang, but the reply was a kick to the crow's chest from the seagull's mighty foot. With this bout as even as it was from punch to punch and kick to kick TofuHead was getting bored. "I AM bored and you are too blunt with emotions." TofuHead exclaimed to belittle his creator, though at that moment came an idea. The tired feathered rough necks each took a seat in opposite corners of the death circle, when TofuHead proclaimed "Death is too easy, sure it's all glitter and fame in the Newsprint, but other then that what's to gain." these words hit the whole flock hard, harder then any of the punches that were thrown at that fight. Then the birds agreed that this way was not right though it needs to be settled, so TofuHead strikes up the idea of what the color of the bag was and if anyone could come up with it first would get all of the corn. Neither flock knew since they just fought over the popcorn not over the bag's color. Now five minutes have passed and no one knew, but out of the trees a voice called and said "It was a green and pink stripped bag.... with extra butter." whispered the voice. The disenbodied voice sprang from the trees like a flying squirrel to claim her prize, it was Sunday she was a savage girl that came in and out of reality or rather realities, but always hung around TofuHead every chance that she had. Reality searching is nothing more then searching a library for information, but it's as dangerous as digging in a Tomb no one knows why she enjoys TofuHead or the world he lives in the most. Though every now and then she brings something that's neat back with her to show off to TofuHead. Sunday grabs the Popcorn "Thanks buddy!" the birds claim "Fixed! Fixed!" she turns to the gangs and looks them down. The odd part about this is that when she looks down on someone it's not just two eye on you, but two pair of balls giving a demon a run for it's money look that just makes your skin looser. The gangs cursed her and went on flying and fighting all the way to the darkest parts of the woods. Then the joggers ran past the two oddballs "Great you stick me with creepy pants, then put me in your freakshow!!" he ranted "What are you talking about, those birds should be over joyed that I didn't just send them to the World where birds' hollow bones can't keep with the change of pressure, also there racist against dogs." she yelled. TofuHead was disappointed in Sunday and she knew it, but he said "Hey we could have just solved a big bird gang war, but how about we get a soda, you tell me about your new travels and head over to Ker's Apartment he'd want to see you." in a voice that was forgiving her for before "I'd like that, he's really been asking to see me more?!" as she blushes. TofuHead nodes and they walk out of the Park sharing the winnings of her journey in this world.
End.

Well that took off more then I thought it would I really just made it up on the spot, so enjoy this little bit of sun shine and the knowledge that there will be more of these bits of joy to come, hell maybe even a web-comic or a kid's book, who knows.

Fearless Dawn Coming to the Biggest Apple Convention

Well I'm alive again Coasting Creeps the Dumm race is done and the game is over. I came in well I don't know what rank I came in, but the good news is that my name and picture will be featured on the site in the soon to be future.... in the Dumm Comics form that is. I know, I know it's not as great as being on the front page in the right day for my comic, but at the very least I'm gonna tell you this it's about a drunken sailor and his meal.

Moving on to the greatest thing since time began or since someone told me that comic Artists are not imposable beings that are higher beings on every level. As you may know I'm working on becoming an Artist or a Cartoonist or just a person that can be apart of the things I love so much. Pushing forward now move, move, move along to the point he that Fearless Dawn is coming to every comic shop shelf thanks to Asylum Press. Yes that's right, eh, you never heard of this wonder of the Earth, well no one blames you... BUT it's best you went away on a trip to the Sun. Really now her comings were in the short lived private comic called "The Bomb" where she would have her adventures battling the Nazi forces one disfigured Nazi Cult at a time. (I made this poster, but all the credit goes to Steve Mannion and his character Fearless Dawn)

I found this man Steve Mannion the creator of Fearless Dawn at a small time High School Convention didn't know him, his comic, or the work he's done in the past, just something told me that this guy, this Artist, this man not a higher being not this all knowing art force was a person to keep an eye on. Steve Mannion was just a good guy that loved to make Art and wanted to show it to the world. I stood and talked to him, but by that point everything about his characters, his grudge style, and that (I found out later) his school was right down the road seemed closer to my taste, style, and dreams. Enough about the past.... Fearless Dawn is a comic that is above the rest a comic that puts the fisticuff advetures of Batman to shame, makes the madcap romps of Empowered seem like Knock-knock jokes, and makes you play 50's music in your car going the fastest that flying tub will take you. And to wrap this up Steve Mannion is going to be at the New York Comic Con this weekend so rattle your wallet dry and see you there.

The Race Begins

Hey ho Coasting Creeps the air seems to be thicker tonight or today it's hard to tell with a blanket like this. Anyhow I was just at the amazing Website Dumm Comics! It's a little get togather of friends and working buddies that thought "Hell drawing is my life and I'm damn to lazy to draw a comic more then once a week!" I really like what they've done. Really this was a great idea that came about people that have been working with one another for years, so greatness was for sure in the future. A comic a week, that's a good round number there.

Now this gives me time to speak of this "race" at hand. On the site this week I checked out that there is a contest for those who want their heroes in Cartoons, Comics and Animation to judge their work to see who has what it might take to be a Dumm Cartoonist. The contest is to make a comic by their fans or whomever it's just a fun romp of joy to the characters of the weekday comics like Skadi and Through Me Port Hole. I for one see this challenge and greatly take pencil and pen to hand with a dab of computer know how to make a few comics worth their and my time!
Oh and with my blood boiling bright red I did this little number (about 5 months ago painted it recently), enjoy. I liked the colors, but for this contest it's not too much on looks more then skill in drawing I've got my month cut out for me then.

Nation that Toon

Hello again my loyal band of Coasting Cult Creeps. This is another run through of Cartoon treats, this man to the left he I will be getting to in a moment, but enjoy the introductionat this time. In this little diddle of your mind I've looked at the world over and found some of my favorite characters of the world. I'm thinking of doing another post of this if I can find more characters from around the world, also I might draw up my view of each character. Anyhow in America there is a man that stands tall and demands YOU! Yes with his white beard and his three color outfit that plays with the colors of this nation's flag is Uncle Sam.

Then there is John Bull a tempered man from the greater UK area that, well whips you into helping the fight. Last there is my favorite since there are many different views of Johnny Canuck! A hero and pride of Canada like the other characters from the other Nations, but without the demanding nature that the wide-eyed finger pointers of the Red, White and Blue Counteries. Maybe the number one thing that is the most enjoyable of these characters is that most of them are super-heroes, like the DC comics hero Uncle Sam and Captain Canuck that's also the mascot for the Hockey Team of the same sir name Canucks.

I'd like to see more of these characters spring up, but not as always heroes, but more of showing off what a characture of a nation can look like or become a prided figure then Big Brother watching you in your PJs.

Crossover Cliche

Hey it's like the first post, Zoinks! Really though Cliches are something that Cartoon shows are known for just ask John K about any show from the 80's and how every script is recycled like the twin (evil or otherwise). Then there is the cliche of characters from the same Network goes over to a different program.

This can be good since sometimes it fits and most of the time it's just popular shows that the Network think would become a Mega-show spinoff of this hour of super fun time. Scooby-Doo is maybe the first name that comes up anytime Crossovers are mentioned unless your talking about comics then it's Batman.

Now there are wonderful things that have come from the internet that combines creator styles with characters from other shows. I loved this idea so much since it's like comics as in Steve Mannion's Empowered will look different from Evan Dorkin's Empowered pinup. I'd like nothing better then to see Adam Warren's Empowered drawn by these two masters of the trade, but I'm getting too far from the main subject. Cartoons go through many changes as the years move on even if there isn't much to the change of the character then the quality.
And like Comics Cartoons have Artists that display different styles like 6Teen is no where close to Venture Brothers, but I'd like to see an episode of Venture Brothers that's drawn in the style of 6Teen's character layout Artist.

If there was a better example it would have to be the models made based from Bruce Timm's work in Batman, Superman, and Justice League, which fans have put characters in different costumes or put their favorite characters from comics or cartoons or anything else from under the sun.

Crossovers should be a way of showing off Artistic skills more then trying to make the characters look exactly like they would look on the show it came from, since an episode of Maxwell Atoms' Evil Con Carne drawn by Mission Hill's layout character Artist would be amazing on too many levels.
